Detailed Itinerary

Arrive Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transfer to the hotel. Guwahati is the major commercial city of Northeast India and a historic city too. Overnight at the hotel.

Today morning visit the famous Kamakhya temple, after that see the Assam state museum (Monday closed). Afternoon visit the Umananda temple (ferry crossing on own). Evening enjoy a sunset cruise on river Brahmaputra (Optional and time permitting and based on availability).

Dinner and Overnight at the hotel.

Today morning proceed to Tezpur (220 kms/ 5 hours). Tezpur is a very old historic town of Assam.  Historical ruins of 8th-9th century dot the surrounding areas of the town. The ruins of Bamuni Hills among them are the most famous. Accordingly there are plenty of myths as well. The ruins of Da Parbatia is a shining example of the architecture around the 4th Century AD. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Evening visit the cole park.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, visit the Agnigarh, Mahabhairab temple and Chitralekha Udyan.  Thereafter go for a boat ride in the river Brahmaputra to see river Dolphins (optional, supplement cost applicable). Drive to Kaziranga National Park, a world heritage site and famous for one horned Rhino. On arrival, check in at the resort.

Overnight at the resort.

Get up very early in the morning for an exciting elephant ride (Optional & based on availability). Enjoy the ride through the park for 1 hr. to appreciate the famous one horned Rhino, wild elephant, etc up close. Afternoon go on a Jeep safari inside the Central range of the park. This drive is an ideal introduction to the park and its ecology as the route passes through the entire spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area. There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well as the other Mega herbivores, Swamp deer etc.

Dinner and overnight at the resort.   

Today morning after breakfast drive to Bahani Tea estate in Jorhat. On arrival check in at the heritage Tea Bungalow. After that visit the tea garden and the tea factory and see how Assam tea is manufactured. Afternoon visit a Tai community village nearby. The Tai people had migrated to Assam from Northern Thailand in the 16th-17th century. They are Buddhists and still follow their old customs and traditions.

Today after breakfast, proceed to Neemati Ghat for your ferry ride to Majuli. A 02 hours downstream boat cruise will take you to Majuli nestled between Subansiri and Brahmaputra rivers famous for the Assamese Vaishnavite satras or monasteries, the Mishing tribals and also for the migratory birds that come here from different parts of the world.  Visit the famous satras (monastery) of Majuli. These monasteries where set up by Srimanta Shankerdev, the founder of the Vaishnavite revivalism in the 16th century. These monasteries nurture the traditional dance of ‘Satriya’, (which is a national dance of India), music, and crafts such as mask making besides religious teachings. Thereafter transfer to Kamalabari Ghat for your ferry ride (2 hrs) to Neemati Ghat then drive Back to Jorhat.

Overnight at Tea estate.

Today morning after breakfast drive to Dibrugarh. On the way visit Sibsagar, the ancient capital town of the Ahom kingdom, who ruled Assam at a stretch of 600 years before the reign of British. See the ancient temples and monuments like Ranghar, Talatalghar and Siva Dol. Thereafter, proceed to Dibrugarh(2 hours). Check in at the hotel.

Morning after breakfast, drive to Ketatong in Margherita (3 hours). Visit the Singpho tribal village in Ketatong. They are related to the Jingpho tribe of China and Kachin ethnic race of northern Myanmar. Legend has it that the British learnt about tea growing naturally in Assam from the Singphos who were cultivating, producing and drinking tea in their traditional methods. Enjoy a traditional lunch in a Singpho villa.

Thereafter drive to Digboi, the Oil City of Assam where the first oil well in Asia was drilled during the colonial era. Visit the World War II cemetery in memory of the allied soldiers who lost their lives here. After that, visit the Oil museum (Monday closed). Drive back to Dibrugarh.

Overnight at the hotel/ bungalow.

After breakfast drive to Dibrugarh Mohanbari Airport for your flight back home.
