Assam & Meghalaya Itinerary involves starting in Guwahati, heading to Kaziranga for wildlife, then to Shillong, followed by Cherrapunjee and Mawlynnong for local culture and natural beauty, and finally departing from Guwahati. Detailed Itinerary

Arrive Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport. Meet representative and proceed to Shillong (110 kms / 3 hours) the capital of Meghalaya ‘abode of clouds’. Enroute see the beautiful Umium Lake or Barapani lake. On arrival, check in at the hotel.

Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, sightseeing of Shillong. Visit the Elephant falls, Shillong peak,  Wards Lake, the Shillong Cathedral and the Don Bosco Museum. This modern museum focuses on local indigenous people & culture.  Afternoon visit the Lady Hydari park . Thereafter drive to Cherrapunjee (56kms/ 2 hours).On arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Cherrapunjee or Sohra has many beautiful waterfalls and caves. Today after breakfast visit the Nohsngithiang Falls, Mawsmai caves, Nohkailikai Falls, Arwah caves (optional). Also see the valley of Bangladesh below.

Day 04:     Cherrapunjee – Dawki – Mawlynnong – Shillong (60 kilometers / 1 hours)

After breakfast drive to Dawki (4 hours). Dawki is a border town on the Indian side of the Indo – Bangladesh border. Just near the Tamabil-Dawki check post flows the beautiful Dawki river or Umngot river with greenish-bluish water so clear that one can see the bottom of the river even from as high as the bridge over the river. Enjoy activities in Dawki like boating, canoeing(optional). Thereafter drive 1 hour to Mawlynnong, one of the cleanest villages in Asia. This village borders Bangladesh and you can have a great view of the plains of Bangladesh from here. Trek to the living Root Bridge which is a real delight to see. Walk to the Bangladesh view point and explore the village and interact with the locals. Later drive to Shillong (3 hours). On arrival check-in at the hotel.

Morning after breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Park (350km/ 7 hours) a world heritage site and famous for one horned Rhino. On arrival, check in at the resort.

Get up very early in the morning for an exciting elephant ride. (Note: Elephant ride is subject to availability from forest dept. on direct payment basis). Enjoy the ride through the Park for 1 hr. to appreciate the famous one horned rhino, wild elephant, etc. up close.  After breakfast visit a nearby village to see the lifestyle and culture of the local people. Afternoon go on a Jeep safari inside the Central range of the park. This drive is an ideal introduction to the park and its ecology as the route passes through the entire spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area. There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well as the other Mega herbivores, Swamp deer etc.

After breakfast drive to Guwahati (240 kms / 5 hours). Afternoon visit the Kamakhya temple, Assam state museum. Evening enjoy a sunset cruise on the river Brahmaputra. On arrival check in at the hotel.
